De Strigat (for Shouting)
Maramures, the N.W.County of Romania is famous throughout the country for its versified strigături (shouts). In the case of this dance the text, which is unrelated to dance per-se, is vocalized to a melody perceived as a dance-song. Sunni first presented De Strigat at the Oklahoma City Folk Dancers’ Camp November, 1988.
