It has been compared to the Macarena because of its infectious music, simple movements, and rapid and wide acceptance by dancers. As a result of the internet and the Jerusalema Dance Challenge, this dance has spread around the globe. Although Jerusalema does not fit everyone’s definition of a folk dance, this dance is certainly being done by a lot of folks. There are video examples of dancers enjoying this dance in the Netherlands, Stuttgart Airport, Bucharest, a Swedish Hospital, Libertatii Square in Timisoara, Romania, and Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem, Israel. There are videos of children, priests, health care workers, police, and beachgoers.
