Dance and Music Samples

The international dance community does dances from nearly every country in the world. There are thousands of dances and just as many pieces of music. Below is a small collection dances you might see or music you might hear at a class or club where international folk dance is done.

Be aware that if you type “folk dance” into the search engine on youtube or any similar video website, what you will see are predominantly performing groups in costumes, with musicians and elaborate choreographies. The videos you will see on this webpage are “regular folk” at recreational dance classes and clubs.

If you don’t see a particular country on the list, it does not mean that dances from that country are not part of the repertoire; it’s a matter of space on this web page and what is available to share.
