The San Antonio Folk Dance Festival (SAFDF) celebrates dancing, music, costumes, and friendship of cultures from all over the world. Come celebrate with us for a wonderful, special weekend of international folk dancing and culture! Join SAFDF online for a special three-day virtual festival!
Instructors
The San Antonio Folk Dance Festival features world-renowned master teachers and choreographers:
- Fusae Carroll (teaching the Macedonian dances of Atanas Kolarovski)
- Shmulik Gov-Ari (teaching Israeli dances)
- Iliana Bozhanova (teaching Bulgarian dances) and musical accompaniment from accordionist Todor Yankov
- Zeljko Jergan (teaching Croatian dances)
and culture corners with well-known folk dance luminaries:
- Bob Leibman, presenting his travels to eastern Macedonia and showing video footage of village dances
- John Morovich, discussing the Ladarke, a Croatian song cycle written by Emil Cossetto in 1950
- Marvin Moehle, leading a special teaching tutorial about Balkan women’s scarves and jewelry
- Shmulik Gov-Ari, discussing the influence of the Yemenite step on Israeli dancing
