Events generally in Northern California
Please join the Land Dancers this Labor Day weekend September 2-4 for International and Israeli folk dancing and music at The Land. Anyone is welcome. Fun for families. No charge. Held every Memorial Day and Labor Day weekend. Founded by Cliff Jenkins and friends in 1981.
You can camp out for the whole weekend or just come for the day and enjoy the deck, the creek, the forest, dancing and friends!
We plan to put together a rough schedule and send it out before the weekend. There will be at least one session where dances for kids will be taught (all ages welcome–super fun), as well as basic steps for beginners, and more.
We welcome volunteer teachers, leaders, musicians, and creative ideas. If you’d like to schedule a slot to teach, lead, or play music for a set of dances, please contact Betsy to coordinate. Note: if you have your own recorded music, you can bring your device to plug into our sound system or get the files to us before the weekend so we can load them onto our computer.
If you are physically able, please park your car along the road or up near the house. You can unload your car near the deck and then go park. All are welcome to participate in the Saturday potluck dinner. A potluck only works if most people contribute something, though we never turn away a hungry dancer.
Flames of any kind are allowed only in the deck kitchen and barbecue area. Be careful of sparks and do not park on long dry grass. Make sure to park facing out and leave your keys in your car and visible in case of evacuation. Even though last winter was unusually wet, please be aware that the fire danger is always high by Labor Day Weekend.
The Land Dancers Board is conducting a review of our Mission Statement, Goals, and Objectives. We want to know what our community thinks about the current mission statement and if you have any proposed revisions, or comments that you’d like us to consider as we go through this review process. Copies of the review form will be available during Folk Dance Weekend, or you can access the form here and email your comments to Betsy.
