Greek Cretan Dance Workshop with Achilleas Fourakis

To get ready for our Cretan Glendi on February 3, we will be hosting Achilleas Fourakis to teach us some Cretan Dances. Raised and taught dance by Effie and Vasilis, Achilleas has grown up in the Minoan Dance program since birth. Countless years of FDF practices and performances, performing at glendis and conventions, performing in Greece, and now teaching as well. Achilleas has taken the teachings from his parents and continues enthusiastically to carry on the tradition of Cretan dances and music. Spending his summers in Crete researching and perfecting the styles, dancing with the locals, performing with the local dance groups, and studying local dancers, he has put much emphasis on the dance style from Kissamos and western Hania.
