The Folk Dance Federation of California is a nonprofit corporation based in Northern California that was formed in the 1940's to promote International Folk Dancing. The Federation represents over 60 dance clubs and 2000 dancers.

- Our Dance Research committees has just released a revised and updated Index and Pronunciation Guide. It includes a listing of all dance descriptions published by the Federation through December 2003 along with the basic information on each dance. This is a great reference source either to find a an old favorite, check on pronunciation, or double check the country of origin.. The Index and Pronunciation Guide is available for purchase.

The Federation dance-research committee has published of a 10 Volume Series of Dance Descriptions covering 250+ dances. Each volume includes dance descriptions, steps (with diagrams), styling and pronunciation information. An ordering form is available for all printed Federation publications.

 Federation Dance Clubs provide a broad range of dancing, both in terms of dance type and level of difficulty. In conjunction with the federation goal of promoting dancing, nonmember clubs are added to our listing by request.

The Federation sponsors at least 6 international folk dance festivals each year. Check out the dance program of a typical successful event

If you enjoy folk dancing, become an Associate Member of the Federation. Member privileges include a subscription to Lets Dance Magazine, source for dance events, news for the international folk dance community in Northern California.
