Global Folk Dance Party

Our April party is the Lyrid’s Preview Party!

The Lyrids Folk Dance Festival is a continuation of the wonderful Salt Spring Island Folk Dance Festival organized by Rosemarie Keough for 10 years from 2004 to 2013. The Burnaby International Folk Dancers, among the many dancers who travelled to the festival year after year, were unable to contemplate the end to such a magical event. So that the festival spirit might continue, these dancers decided to bring the festival to Burnaby, next to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Come join us online as we dance yours and Lyrid’s favorite dances. We’ll be joined by Ahmet Lüleci, who has taught at Lyrids as well as by Lori Larsen, Bev Neilsen, Andi Kapplin, and Debbie Jackson.

We will:

• Connect and dance in our own homes
• Watch people leading dances from around the world
• Submit requests and chat online
• See each other; listen and dance to our favorites
