DESCRIPTION:Join us at Fall Camp 2025 for another magical\, fun-filled weekend of dance\, music\, crafts\, nature\, and camaraderie.  \nThis year\, Fall Camp 2025 will feature one main teacher\, Catherine Rudin\, plus several of our own California-based dance teachers.  Catherine will present an eclectic mix of forgotten-classic and recent captivating dances\, with particular attention to styling details that make a dance specific to a time and place. She has danced for more than 5 decades\, enjoying a wide variety of styles and traditions. She has both family and linguistic research ties to the Balkans\, especially Bulgaria. Balkan music and dance are her roots\, but she loves and participates in other traditions as well. \nIn a return to a practice from the first Fall Camp and Camp Hess Kramer\, several experienced and skilled California dance teachers will also present great dances that campers will enjoy learning. \nDancing will be in the magnificent\, air-conditioned Wapner room\, on a wooden dance floor.  Fall Camp offers many other activities\, including: \n\nDance parties on Friday and Saturday evening (Yes\, we will solicit your dance requests in the weeks before-hand)\,\nMeals together\, Happy Hours\, and other socializing with our precious dance friends\,\nThe opportunity to play an instrument and/or sing in the Potluck Band\,\nArt/craft projects in the campus’ inspiring environment\,\nMorning stretching sessions and nature walks in the tranquil\, outstandingly natural landscape\,\nExpertly-led star\, and maybe satellite-gazing\, well away from LA’s city lights.\n\nCampus\nOnce again\, Fall Camp will be on the beautiful rural Brandeis-Bardin Campus near Simi Valley\, with its comfortable motel-style rooms in an idyllic\, natural setting. Nestled in a woodsy alcove\, the campus is a lovely place where you can enjoy being close to nature while still having the creature comforts of excellent meals (upgraded from previous years)\, motel-style rooms (with private bathrooms\, heat\, and air conditioning)\, and more. You can dance when you feel like it\, and when you don’t\, do other things such as catching up with friends\, playing Scrabble\, working on a jigsaw puzzle with others\, getting a massage\, completing a craft project\, going for a walk in nature\, reading a good book\, meditating\, or doing nothing at all. You don’t have to get on a plane or drive treacherous mountain roads to be with nature\, and WiFi is available too! \nAbout 40 miles northwest of Los Angeles\, near Simi Valley\, Brandeis-Bardin is a lovely and comfortable place to spend a weekend dancing with friends. SUMMARY:Cafe Shalom Dance Party
DESCRIPTION:Israeli folk dancers from all over the Bay Area dance the night away at Café Shalom’s Saturday party—a monthly tradition since the 1960s! We play a wonderful mix of oldies and the latest dances based on requests. Dancers of all ages are invited to join the fun on the third Saturday of every month.  \nSaturday classes are large parties with many dancers from all ages and spectrum. We dance dances from 1918 and from 2018 back to back. \nThe first part of the evening – 30-45 minutes starts with slow and beginners dances\, oldies\, and dances which we learn in Tuesday class. DESCRIPTION:GreekFeet is pleased to announce a special Greek dance workshop featuring one of its favorite guest instructors: Joe Graziosi. Joe is a treasure chest of knowledge of Greek Dance.  He has been teaching workshops for over 40 years in the US\, Japan and Europe and has an extensive knowledge about Greek dances.  Joe is currently living in MA\, visiting the SF Bay Area for only one week in November.  GreekFeet is delighted to host Joe for a special Greek Dance Workshop on Monday\, November 17th..  Joe’s classes are informative\, easy to follow\, and his teaching technique makes his classes  accessible to all level of dancers.  Please come join us for this special workshop with Joe\, truly an opportunity not to be missed.   \nAny questions regarding this Special Workshop\, feel free to contact Mary Ann at greekfeet@icloud.com \nRing bell at the gate to enter. \n \nJoe Graziosi\nJoe began his formal pursuit of the study\, documentation and promulgation of traditional Greek dance in 1975 during a semester-abroad program in Athens where he worked with the noted folklorist\, Ted Petrides. Since then he has done extensive independent research in folk music and dance in Greece\, the former Greek areas of the Anatolian Peninsula\, and the Greek American communities in New England and New York. He has compiled an exhaustive library of scholarly research as well as a comprehensive video library and musical archive. Concurrent with his research he has danced for and advised several Greek American performing groups. \nIn 1982\, under the sponsorship of the National Endowment for the Arts and the Ethnic Folk Arts Center\, he directed the Greek Music Tour\, composed of highly esteemed practitioners of traditional music from both Greece and the immigrant community in the States who performed throughout the northeastern U.S. In conjunction with the tour he was principal editor and author of an accompanying booklet on Greek music\, dance and instrumentation\, as well as advisor to studio recordings now archived in the New York City-based Center for Traditional Arts. Joe\, along with the late Paul Ginis\, co-founded the Greek American Folklore Society (GAFS) in Astoria\, NY\, where he taught throughout the 80s.  \nSince 1984\, he has taught traditional folk and urban dances of the Greek peoples for various organizations throughout the U.S. and Canada\, including at major dance camps\, weekend seminars and retreats for both professional and amateur dance troupes as well as for social clubs\, community and church groups and folk dance organizations throughout the U.S.\, including Hawaii and Alaska. In 1990\, Joe was invited to teach Greek dance in Japan and Taiwan\, and returned to Japan in 2017 for his twelfth visit. He has also introduced people to Greek dance in Switzerland\, Germany\, the Netherlands\, England\, and Brazil; and last year\, for the first time\, in Mexico. He has been a guest lecturer on Greek dance and music for the ethnomusicology departments of the Universities of California Los Angeles and Santa Barbara (UCLA and UCSB). Since 1985 he has served as advisor and judge for the annual Folk Dance Festival (FDF)\, held under the auspices of the Greek Orthodox Diocese of San Francisco\, which encompasses the western U.S.; since 2002 for the annual HDF (Hellenic Dance Festival) of the Atlanta diocese; and more recently for the short-lived Chicago-based AGDC (America’s Greek Dance Competition). \nJoe is the co-founder and former co-director with Ahmet Lüleci of the annual World Music & Dance Camp\, formerly on Cape Cod\, MA\, now held at Iroquois Springs\, NY. Joe has produced numerous anthology CDs of dances from recorded sources not widely available in the United States\, which he makes available to students in his classes. \nCurrently\, he teaches a  Greek Dance class via Zoom every Wednesday evening.

He subsequently studied various forms of folk dance in workshops throughout Europe\, Israel\, and North America under the guidance of renowned choreographers and teachers. Roberto now lives in Reggio Emilia in Northern Italy\, considered to have one of the most important dance communities in Italy.  \nFrom 1995 to 2003\, he performed as a dancer and choreographer with the Terra di Danza Dance Company and was involved in the production of Raggi di luna Italiana and Capriccio Italiano (Italian dances)\, GiroGiroMondo (dances from around the world)\, Keltic Emotion (Celtic dances)\, Mazal Tov (Israeli dances)\, and Ethnos (international folk dances).  \nHe is the founder of Folk Atelier Reggio Emilia (FARE)\, devoted to the development and conservation of folk dance heritage. Since 1973\, he has studied\, taught\, and performed traditional music and dance of Croatia and other parts of Southeastern Europe. DESCRIPTION:Israeli folk dancers from all over the Bay Area dance the night away at Café Shalom’s Saturday party—a monthly tradition since the 1960s! We play a wonderful mix of oldies and the latest dances based on requests. Dancers of all ages are invited to join the fun on the third Saturday of every month.  \nSaturday classes are large parties with many dancers from all ages and spectrum. We dance dances from 1918 and from 2018 back to back. \nThe first part of the evening – 30-45 minutes starts with slow and beginners dances\, oldies\, and dances which we learn in Tuesday class. SUMMARY:New Years Eve Dance Party and Lucy Chang Memorial Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:Come help Moveable Feet celebrate the arrival of 2026 with an in-person potluck supper and dance party while raising money for Second Harvest\, a local food bank!  \nThe combined\, New Year’s Eve International Folk Dance Party and Lucy Chang Memorial Second Harvest Fundraiser will kick off on December 31\, at 7:00 p.m. and wind down not long after we ring in the New Year next morning.  \nWe’ll start with a potluck dinner at 7 p.m. (doors open at 6:45)\, followed by dancing from about 8 p.m. to 12:15 a.m. Bring a favorite dish to share (label your serving utensils). Moveable Feet will supply drinks\, plates\, and utensils. \nDonate to SHFB  \nPlease make a generous donation to Second Harvest\, either in advance or bring to the party cash\, checks\, or a smart phone to use a credit card.  You may also bring cans\, jars (peanut butter)\, bags (rice\, pasta)\, and boxes (cereal\, cake mix) to be delivered to SHFB. \nAdditional notes: Parking is free on New Year’s Eve and no time limit in Palo Alto city lots and streets.
