Come join your friends — some you’ve known for years\, and some you’ve yet to meet — for a fun-filled weekend of nonstop Israeli dancing located at the beautiful Wonder Valley. We’ll enjoy the benefits of California’s famous vineyards by incorporating a wine tasting adventure during the camp! Excellent wine and fantastic Israeli Dancing—what could be better?! Don’t miss it! \nFeaturing\n\nFriendly atmosphere that focuses on connection and community\nLearn new dances\, attend specialty sessions\, dance ’til morning!\nOne-of-a-kind wine tasting curated by our camp sommelier\nGourmet food\, with special attention to your dietary needs\nRelaxing setting with beautiful accommodations at various tiers to meet your comfort and cost preferences\n\nFood\nThe prices include all meals (Thursday dinner to Sunday breakfast) and snacks. Meals are kosher-style (no pork\, no mixed meat / milk\, no shellfish). The camp can accommodate most dietary requirements (vegetarian\, vegan\, lactose-free). For those requiring certified kosher meals\, that can be arranged for a surcharge. All dancers have the opportunity to evaluate their favorites and to enjoy the hors d’oeuvres selected for their harmonious pairing with the wines. \nMeet the Staff\nMichael Barzelai has created some of the most popular dances in the last couple of years — Normali\, Aneni\, Resisim\, Be’chayai\, Yahalomim\, Shneinu\, La Trompeta\, Ha’or Min Heharim\, and many others. Despite being only 30\, Michael has a vast repertoire\, both new and old\, Ashkenazi and Mizrachi\, popular and obscure. Beyond his fantastic choreography and dancing\, he’s just incredibly friendly and boundlessly energetic\, and we are so excited that he will be part of our Ba’Kerem community this year! \nYaron Elfasy is the choreographer of dances including Mor Ve’Kinamon\, Eich Efshar Shelo\, Ohev Lihiyot Ba’bayit\, and Kanfe Ha’ruach. He can do it all: circles\, partners\, and yes\, lines! He spends the summers teaching dance to the kids at Camp Szarvas in Hungary\, always with a big smile and tons of ruach. Yaron is part of an Israeli dance dynasty; his four children are all dancers\, and his father was the legendary Moti Elfasy\, creator of El Ha’derech\, Al Kanfe Ha’kesev\, Lo Na’atzor\, and more. \nLatishya Steele returns as our Mistress of the Computer\, our Granter of Requests\, our Voice Upon the Microphone — in other words\, our incomparable DJ. She will keep you on your feet all night long — and well into the morning! Latishya started her dancing career in Boston and Chicago\, and she is now one of the Bay Area’s favorite teachers and programmers\, with an incredibly deep repertoire and a talent for keeping the party going. \nAaron Alpert is your camp director and host for the weekend. His main job is to ensure that you’re having an awesome time! He’s been teaching\, running sessions\, and organizing workshops in the Bay Area for 12 years. DESCRIPTION:Come help Moveable Feet celebrate the arrival of 2022 with an in-person potluck supper and dance party while raising money for a local food bank!\nDownload a flier  \nThe combined\, free New Year’s Eve International Folk Dance Party and Lucy Chang Memorial Second Harvest Fundraiser will kick off on Friday\, December 31\, at 7:45 p.m. and wind down not long after we ring in the New Year on Saturday morning. Once again it will be held at All Saints’ Episcopal Church\, 555 Waverley Street\, Palo Alto. Loui Tucker will emcee the party. \nMoveable Feet has set a $4\,000 fundraising goal for Second Harvest of Silicon Valley. Last year’s virtual event\, held about eight months after Lucy’s death\, raised a record-breaking $9\,357. The entry fee is being waived in hopes it will encourage extra-generous donations to Second Harvest. \nSecond Harvest is not accepting canned or packaged food donations during the pandemic. The repertoire includes couple\, line\, circle\, and set dances. Join others for an afternoon of dances designed to get new dancers on their feet and moving to music\, holding hands\, kicking up their heels\, and meeting other new dancers. \nThis event is for the many people who have been wondering why other people enjoy folk dancing so much. They’ve been wanting to join other folk dancers\, but don’t know where to begin. They may be children and grandchildren\, work colleagues\, members of your book club\, family\, people in your neighborhood\, and others. Are you one who made a New Year’s resolution to get out more\, to get more exercise? Along with teaching dances from all over the world\, her classes combine rhythm\, geography\, historical and cultural context\, physical fitness\, community-building\, and just plain fun. She has taught folk dance for seniors at Villa Marin in San Rafael\, world rhythm and dance at Dance Palace Summer Camp in Point Reyes Station\, line dancing at Indian Valley College in Ignacio\, ballroom dance in Point Reyes Station\, and folk dance at College of Marin. Throughout the pandemic\, she taught weekly Israeli and Balkan classes on Zoom\, and continues to do a once-monthly Balkan class so she can dance and hang out with old and new friends who live too far away to come to her in-person classes. DESCRIPTION:English Country Dance workshop with Bruce Hamilton.  Sliding scale admission: $10-15 \nFor more details contact Loui Tucker (408) 771-4542 \nBruce Hamilton\nBruce Hamilton Bruce Hamilton is a thoughtful and energetic teacher of English and Scottish country dancing. He started dancing in college\, and took up teaching in the early 1970s. He founded the San Jose English dance and has taught English country dancing all over the United States and abroad. He is a founding member of the Deer Creek Morris Men\, a 15-year participant in The Christmas Revels\, and past president of the Country Dance and Song Society.  Bruce has been focusing on non-choreographic elements of English Country Dance (ECD). He doesn’t teach many new or complex dances (claims he can’t remember them!) but instead focuses on skills that apply across all dances. He is interested in how the dancers move\, how they give weight\, how they match the music\, how well they work with their partners\, etc. In workshops Bruce also reviews the fundamentals of turns\, heys\, rights and lefts\, using dances that will help these people work on those skills.  He carries this focus into his sought-after callers’ classes\, which he’s done for the last three decades. Training ECD teachers is relatively unexplored territory and it’s very exciting. Learning to teach takes years\, but even in a weekend or week-long mini-course he’s been able to point students in useful directions\, and some have made great strides. By day\, Bruce is a retired computer scientist and now helps out with his wife’s dog and cat rescue organization. He has taught at Mendocino Folklore Camp\, Pinewoods Camp\, Timber Ridge and Stockton Folk Dance Camp\, and in five countries. Read more…

DESCRIPTION:Our April party is the Lyrid’s Preview Party! \nThe Lyrids Folk Dance Festival is a continuation of the wonderful Salt Spring Island Folk Dance Festival organized by Rosemarie Keough for 10 years from 2004 to 2013. DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the 13th anniversary of the Cerritos Folk Dancers with dance! Each group is welcome to lead\, and/or request one or more dances. The Cerritos Folk Dancers (CFD) have skipped two lunar new year folk dance festivals and two anniversary festivals since March 2020. They welcome having a festival in-person again! \nThe theme is “East Meets West.” A draft copy of the schedule for the event is attached for your information. \nThere will be no teaching in this festival. We will have fun dancing together. Each individual may request dances he/she likes. Each group is welcome to perform a dance and/or lead a dance. \nThere is no strict regulation to follow. But we wish the attendees could wear masks and have full vaccination for the Covid-19. And we’ll ask them to sign wavers prepared by the Folk Dance Federation of California\, South\, Inc.
