SUMMARY:Fall Camp 2024
DESCRIPTION:Fall Camp 2024 promises to be another vibrant\, fun-filled weekend with workshops by master instructors Genci Kastrati (Albanian) and Ira Weisburd (International)\, dance parties\, and other fun activities\, including the Pot Luck Band\, happy hours\, night sky viewing\, an ice cream sundae bar\, and more! The only thing that would make it better is if you attend! You can fly into beautiful downtown Burbank\, instead of LAX. Like before\, it will serve as both a quiet retreat where you can relax with some very nice people and a weekend dance camp where you can learn from master teachers. You can find out more and download registration forms (and waivers) at http://FallCamp.org.\nFall Camp 2023 \nComfort\nFall Camp\, nestled in a woodsy alcove near Simi Valley\, is a lovely place where you can enjoy being close to nature while still having the creature comforts of excellent meals (upgraded from previous years)\, motel-style rooms (with private bathrooms\, heat\, and air conditioning)\, and more. You can dance when you feel like it\, and when you don’t\, do other things such as catching up with friends\, playing Scrabble\, working on a jigsaw puzzle with others\, getting a massage\, completing a craft project\, going for a walk in nature\, reading a good book\, meditating\, or doing nothing at all. You don’t have to get on a plane or drive treacherous mountain roads to be with nature\, and WiFi is available too! \nFall Camp will no longer require masks or vaccinations\, but we still encourage best health practices. Because the fall weather is so difficult to predict\, we are doing all of our dancing in a beautiful\, heated and air-conditioned building\, where many of our other activities will also take place. Although we are installing the largest wood floor possible to fit the dance room\, it is smaller than the largest room we used in previous years\, so we are limiting the number of campers to around 60. This also means that dancers will have more access to our two master teachers. The dining menu has been upgraded in quality\, and Sunday lunch is included in the registration price. There will be two happy hours with wine. \nRegister

Anna’s dance adventures started when she joined the town’s folk dance ensemble where she learned from esteemed choreographers and performed along experienced dancers throughout her youth years. \nUpon coming to Boston to further her education\, Anna got introduced to the internationally acclaimed Ahmet Luleci’s Collage Dance Ensemble: a unique experience that unlocked passion and appreciation for the greater Balkan magic\, and beyond. The 8 years Anna spent performing with Collage on local and national stages were instrumental for her growth as a dancer – from professional attitude to stage presence to polished style to authentic connection with our ancestors through Ahmet’s vibrant choreographies. In 2022\, Anna was honored to teach Bulgarian Dance at Ahmet Luleci’s annual World Camp in Rock Hill\, New York. \nWith the start of her own family in Boston\, Anna felt the need to be more involved in the local Bulgarian community. This is when she joined Ludo Mlado\, a Bulgarian folk ensemble led by Pepi Petrov and Marieta Mircheva. Anna connected with Ludo Mlado’s mission to preserve the rich dance traditions of Bulgaria. An outstanding moment with Ludo Mlado was the opportunity to participate in the Chicago Folk Festival VEREA. She specializes in Armenian dance and works as a choreographer. Tineke conducts workshops for students at various levels\, beginners to professional\, and has taught classes in international folk dance\, Dutch and Armenian dances in many countries around the world. Her main focus is to break down complicated steps and movements to basic elements and slowly ‘rebuilding’ them to the original dance form. This skill is part of her worldwide success and is combined with a vast knowledge of Armenian dance and culture. \nSince 1985 she has regularly visited Armenia to study folklore at the Pedagogic Institute and Choreographic School in Yerevan. A part of each research trip was devoted to working with several amateur groups in Armenia and doing research on costumes. Two of those research trips were sponsored by the Dutch government. On several occasions Tineke visited the USA to observe the dances performed by the Armenian communities there. DESCRIPTION:Join Cabrillo Folk Dancers for a very special live music dance party with Hungarian traditional music band Taraf de Akácfa. Doors open at 6:30pm. Sponsored by the Cabrillo Folk Dancers. More details \n \nTaraf de Akácfa\nTaraf de Akácfa was created in 2014 by traveling street musicians who serendipitously met in Budapest\, Hungary in an international collective house on Akácfa street. SUMMARY:34th Annual Polish Festival
DESCRIPTION:A 34 Year Tradition of Celebrating Polish Culture\nHave you danced the Polka\, ate Pierogi\, and had your picture taken with a “Polish Princess”? Never\, you say? Well\, it’s about time you did! \nJoin the Polish American Club of Sacramento\, Inc. at the 34th Annual Polish Festival. Come celebrate and learn about the Polish culture through traditional food\, drink and song. \nThe best part of the Festival is the food and entertainment. There are no Polish Restaurants in the greater Sacramento area\, so the Polish Festival is the only time when people can enjoy authentic Polish food while listening to traditional Polish music\, performed by professional musicians. \nBogdan Komorniczak\nPAC Entertainment VP \nMore than 1500 people are expected to attend this year’s festival. But don’t worry\, there will be plenty of food. Come fill up on home-made Polish delicacies – over 5\,000 Pierogi (potato-cheese filled\, meat filled\, or mushroom and sauerkraut filled dumplings); 1\,000 Golabki (cabbage rolls); 700 pounds of Kielbasa (Polish sausage)\, hundreds of servings of Placki (potato pancakes) and a variety of Polish Pastries will be served. \nBeside all the wonderful food and entertainment there will be several vendors on-hand selling Baltic Amber\, handmade crafts\, Polish souvenirs\, and Polish Sausages. Don’t forget to visit the Polish marketplace! If you’re in a bidding mood there is also the silent auction. For those that wish to try their luck\, tickets for the raffle will be available. You can commemorate your visit with a picture with a “Polish Princess” at the photo booth. \nDance the Polka or while you eat\, enjoy the music of Chet Chwalik Polmuz Polka Band and Accordian music from Nicolai Prisacar. The performances of the Bay Area Polish Dance groups of Lowicznie and Sokoly are sure to impress. \nThere is something for everyone at the 34th Annual Polish Festival! The event is for all ages. \nAdmission and Parking are free. Wheelchair Access. Credit Cards Accepted. \nPolish American Club of Sacramento\nThe Polish American Club of Sacramento\, Inc preserves and perpetuates Polish traditions\, customs\, culture\, and heritage through social events and activities. Since the foundation of the club in 1959 membership and the festival have grown. For more information about the performers and vendors please visit the festival website.

SUMMARY:Fall Camp 2025
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Fall Camp 2025 for another magical\, fun-filled weekend of dance\, music\, crafts\, nature\, and camaraderie. \nThis year\, Fall Camp 2025 will feature one main teacher\, Catherine Rudin\, plus several of our own California-based dance teachers. Catherine will present an eclectic mix of forgotten-classic and recent captivating dances\, with particular attention to styling details that make a dance specific to a time and place. She has danced for more than 5 decades\, enjoying a wide variety of styles and traditions. She has both family and linguistic research ties to the Balkans\, especially Bulgaria. Balkan music and dance are her roots\, but she loves and participates in other traditions as well. \nIn a return to a practice from the first Fall Camp and Camp Hess Kramer\, several experienced and skilled California dance teachers will also present great dances that campers will enjoy learning. \nDancing will be in the magnificent\, air-conditioned Wapner room\, on a wooden dance floor. Fall Camp offers many other activities\, including: \n\nDance parties on Friday and Saturday evening (Yes\, we will solicit your dance requests in the weeks before-hand)\,\nMeals together\, Happy Hours\, and other socializing with our precious dance friends\,\nThe opportunity to play an instrument and/or sing in the Potluck Band\,\nArt/craft projects in the campus’ inspiring environment\,\nMorning stretching sessions and nature walks in the tranquil\, outstandingly natural landscape\,\nExpertly-led star\, and maybe satellite-gazing\, well away from LA’s city lights.\n\nCampus\nOnce again\, Fall Camp will be on the beautiful rural Brandeis-Bardin Campus near Simi Valley\, with its comfortable motel-style rooms in an idyllic\, natural setting. Nestled in a woodsy alcove\, the campus is a lovely place where you can enjoy being close to nature while still having the creature comforts of excellent meals (upgraded from previous years)\, motel-style rooms (with private bathrooms\, heat\, and air conditioning)\, and more. \nAbout 40 miles northwest of Los Angeles\, near Simi Valley\, Brandeis-Bardin is a lovely and comfortable place to spend a weekend dancing with friends. The beautifully landscaped grounds have many mature trees and offer breathtaking views of the Santa Susana Mountains. The camp’s address is 1101 Peppertree Lane\, Brandeis\, CA 93064. Fly into Burbank or LAX. \nFall Camp Registration \nRegistration\nNote that the Folk Dance Federation of California\, South\, Inc. requires participants to sign a waiver that is included in the file.
