SUMMARY:Hungarian Dance House (Táncház) with Live Music
DESCRIPTION:Eszterlánc invites you to join us for a Hungarian Dance Day (táncház) on January 25th\, 2025. This is our regular start-of-the-year dance house with live music by Forrás Banda (violin\, viola\, double bass\, cimbalom (hammered dulcimer)\, moldavian drum). \nThere will be several new features: \n\nFree film screening before the dance house: The Hungarian film Akkord (with English subtitles) about the connection between folk music and pop music.\nFolk music concert by Forrás Banda to kick off the dance house. Everyone is welcome\, even if you can’t stay for the dance house itself.\nPerformance by the Mazsola Children’s Folk Dance Ensemble immediately following the concert.\nChildren’s dance house\, followed by:\nAdult dance house\, including instruction during the first part of the dance sets.\nNew this year: Marketplace\, where Eszterlánc dancers and others can sell folk-related items. If you have something to sell\, let us know in advance to coordinate.\n\n\nSchedule\n\nTime\nEvent\n\n\n10:00am\nFolk Music Workshop\n\n\n3:00pm\nAkkord Film Screening\n\n\n4:30pm\nHungarian Folk Concert with Forrás Band\n\n\n5:15pm\nMazsola Performance\n\n\n5:30pm\nKid’s Dance Circle\n\n\n6:30pm\nAdult Dance with Teaching\n\n\n11:00pm\nSinging\n\n\nWe reserve the right to make changes to the program. DESCRIPTION:Dance to your favorite international tunes with Da! Mozhem and Cabrillo Folk Dancers. \n$15 sliding scale admission \nBe sure to bring tips for the band. If you are not well please stay home. \nDa! Mozhem\nDa! Mozhem at the San Francisco Free Folk Festival Da! Mozhem plays and sings high-energy pan-Balkan music for the joy of dancing.  D!M is a group of friends who have been playing together for well over a decade. The group has veterans from many excellent folklore bands such as the People’s International Silver String Macedonian Band\, Born to Drone\, Westwind\, Sviraci\, and the Slavonian Traveling Band.  The band plays with emphasis on Bulgarian\, Macedonian\, and ex-Yugoslav traditions.  Several members frequently travel to the Balkans to learn more about the folkloric music of the region.  The group plays on traditional instruments unique to the region as well as modern instruments.
